2013: A Year In Review

2013 has come and gone.  Seriously I think it is the fastest year yet.  Here are some of the Peterson happenings:

Brian - 2013 was a good year for Brian.  Work was good.  Sometimes too good.  This summer Brian pretty much work 7 days a week.  Needless to say, we didn't get to doing much but made the most of it.  Brian is called as an 11 year old scout leader and has learned how to deal with 11 year olds.  haha.  He has a great companion leader and together they are having a lot of fun.  He was able to experience his first 11 year old campout, and I am not sure he is eager for another one.  haha.  Brian spent the year enjoying living where we do in Millville.  He loved being able to hop on the 4wheeler at our house and ride up to two canyons and enjoy the mountains.  He has been able to do more hunting than he did the previous year.  He had an enjoyable summer working our garden, learning how to irrigate (and listening to his wife complain about irrigating in the middle of the night), and realizing how big our yard was trying to mow it and keep it looking good. 2014 should bring more fun for Brian with all I have mentioned above.  His goals for the year are to finish organzing the playroom and the boys room (toys with shelves), attending the temple more, and being more tolerant with his children.

Tammy - 2013 was a busy year for me.  The spring had me working with Matthew's teacher once a week and getting to know all of Matthew's friends in Kindergarten.  We also planted a garden this spring and enjoyed every second watching it grow to a full on feeding frenzy for us.  This summer brought on weeding the garden, a job I truely loath.  I also learned how to irrigate.  Let me tell you, this is a hard job.  Especially when you are doing it by yourself in the middle of the night.  I am not a fan of the dark and so it took all I had to be out there to make our lawn green.  But I survived!  I also took over the main leader job with our Girl Scout troop.  Nothing too much change there because I have some wonderful ladies as co-leaders.  This fall brought on Matthew going to school all day long and leaving me and Jacob to love each other more.  I have been volunteering more at the school whether in my kids classrooms or with the PTA.  I really am loving being at the school and might look into doing it partime when Jacob starts school.  This winter has been a worldwind (see crazy time post).  2014 will be just as busy and I am going to love every minute of it.  Some of my goals for the year are to exercise more, eat healthier, attend the temple more, and be a bit more patient with my children.

Kimberly - 2013 was a fun year for Kim.  She made many new friends in her first year at Millville.  She enjoyed the year dancing her heart out at LaShars on one of their performing teams.  Her performing team capped off last year with two 1st place performances at Lagoon.  Girl Scouts is always a joy for Kimberly and she earned many badges in her final year as a Brownie.  So many badges that we had to buy another sash to put them on.  This summer, Kimmy started piano with our friend Nicole and she is really good.  I am very impressed at how quickly she picked up on piano and is playing great.  I do hope she continues.  This fall Kimmy started back at LaShars on the Jr Company performing team and is soooo happy.  She is a great dancer and loves every inch of it.  Kimmy is in 4th grade this year with Mrs. Justesen and just loves school.  She is a smarty and I hope she continues to love school with as much passion as she has now.  Kimmy loves Activity Days at church and has enjoyed me being her Primary teacher.  Only a couple more years and she moves to a Young Woman... YIKES!  2014 will be another fun year for Kim.  More dancing, playing piano, enjoying friends, etc.  Some of her goals for the new year are to play piano more, be nicer to her siblings, listen and obeying better to her parents, and try to keep her room clean better.

Matthew - 2013 brought on some new adventures for Matthew.  This spring he finished up his Kindergarten year and was a fabulous student.  He also tried Spring soccer for the first time.  He loved every second of it.  The summer brought on playing and more playing.  The kid could live outside if I let him.  He enjoyed soccer, baseball, football fun with everyone in the family.  He also accomplished a goal and that was learn how to ride his big green bike with no training wheels.  Now he cruises everywhere on that bike.  This fall Matthew started 1st grade with Mrs. Kendrick and Mrs. Purser.  He loves being at school all day and loves lunch.  He has made some great friends and enjoys Math.  Matthew also played fall soccer with 2nd graders and learned a lot and even scored a goal.  He was so happy.  2014 will be an even better year for this kid.  He is full of fun and life and I am sure he will be running at top speed all year long.  Some of his goals for 2014 are to play more soccer, sign up for baseball, learn to be nice to siblings, and listen and obey parents better.

Jacob - 2013 was a fun year for Jacob.  His 2 year old spunk thrived all year long.  He enjoyed every moment he could fit into each day.  Jacob found a love for playing outside and his daddy.  He could spend every day playing with daddy outside if we let him, and daddy could.  Jacob found a love for PBS shows this year.  I don't mind because they are wholesome good shows for him to watch.  He is a smart kid and working hard on learning his letters and numbers.  Recently he has decided he is too big and doesn't need naps anymore.  He also grew out of his toddler bed and moved to a big boy twin bed.  He had a great 3 year old birthday.  2014 should be even more fun for Jacob.  Some of his goals for the new year are to be potty trained (hopefully within the first month of the year), start preschool this fall, and just play and enjoy life.

Duke - 2013 was a playground for Duke.  He loved his big yard to play in.  He runs all over the backyard, barking at anything and anyone that runs by.  Duke also enjoyed the garden a bit, even though it was closed up to him.  He found a way in.  Duke found a love for the irrigation water.  His favorite time (no matter what time of day it was) was when the gates were all shut and the water was shut off and he could run thru the puddles and splash and roll and get soaking wet. 2014 will bring on more fun for this silly dog.  Hopefully will bring on a big more exercise for our mini bear.

We hope you all have a wonderful New Year.  Happy 2014!
