School is out!

I am having a hard time believing another school year has come and gone!

Let's start with Matthew.  Matthew had a great 2nd Grade year.  His teacher was Mrs. Cook and she was a sweet gal.  I really had a fun time getting to know her.  Mrs. Cook was a great teacher for Matthew.  She pushed him when he needed a push and loved him through out the entire year.  She constantly praised him for trying his best and for doing so good on everything he did.  I couldn't have asked for a better teacher.
Matthew had a lot of fun with school, recess, lunch, and friends.  I realized early in the year that he was a typical boy and could care less if he got 100% on anything.  He was just happy to understand what he was learning and if he passed.  I accepted that with quite a bit of struggle, but I did come to accept this new attitude.
Matthew hated homework, especially reading.  He finally found a love for reading at the end of the school year as long as it was interesting books.  His favorite... Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
He is already looking forward to 3rd grade and Mrs. Knighton's class.

Now to Kimberly.  Boy what a 5th grade year we had!  Kimberly had a wonderful teacher in Mrs. Alexander.  She was very sweet and respectful and loved Kimberly.  She constantly pushed Kimberly in being her best self.  She was the perfect teacher for Kimberly during this year.
Kimberly had an up and down year.  Of course she is at that age where the hormones are starting and they are out of control.  Part of the year was a huge struggle just getting her to want to go to school (all hormonal issues).  Luckily Mrs. Alexander understood and did everything she could to encourage Kim to keep her head up and get thru this struggling time.  We did get past this and got a hold of those hormones (or how to deal with them better) and had a great rest of the year.
Kim is an extremely friendly gal and had friends all over the place.  She made a best friend this year in Bekah and they are two peas in a pod.  I love seeing these two girls together.
Kim did have to deal with some more bullying this year but after her struggles last year, she was ready for them this year.  If she was treated unkindly by anyone, she either blew them off or let them know how she felt.  I was very proud of her standing up for herself.
Kimberly did very well in school this year.  So good that she was awarded the Presidential Excellence award (even signed by the President of the United States, himself).
On to new adventures in 6th grade and middle school!

Now let us enjoy the summer!

My baby!

I can't believe my baby just finished up his first year of Preschool.  He is growing up so fast!

2015 Vacation - Disneyland

Disneyland!  What can I say... It truly is the Happiest Place on Earth.  We had so much fun there.  Our goal for this trip was to ride every ride and do everything we could.  It was nice our kids were older so we were able to stay out late and enjoy everything.  It was magical and our kids were so happy.  My parents enjoyed themselves too.  I was impressed at how many rides they rode.

Our whole purpose for being there was to watch Kimberly perform in Disneyland and California Adventure.  Wow what an experience for her.  It was super neat to watch Kim in her element on the Disney stage.  What a great thing!

Here is just a little sneak peak at our pictures of our trip.  We had a lot of fun finding the PhotoPass people to take our picture.  Totally worth the money to get the pictures.

Thank you Mr Disney!

Love Disney Magic!

Jacob was our daredevil!

The neatest experience!  I had read about the retiring of the flag for the night online and knew we needed to get my dad to do this.  They ask all active or veterans to participate and my dad was able to go participate.  I couldn't stop the tears!  What a great experience!

The last ride of our trip... Splash Mountain.  As you can see from the picture, there was some terrified children.  But boy this is probably our favorite picture of the trip.  The faces are priceless!
So as you can see... we enjoyed every minute of our trip.  I am super thankful for my parents for coming with us and providing the rooms for our trip.  I am thankful for the laughs, smiles, memories of everything we did.

Until our next adventure!

2015 Vacation - San Diego

Our 2nd day we drove to San Diego.  I have only been to San Diego once and Brian had never been so we were looking forward to doing something new for us.

We found our hotel pretty easy (thanks to mapquest) and it was in a great location.  We decided to get some food and check out a beach.  We love the beach, Jacob especially.  It was all we could do to keep him out of the water.

The next day was a Seaworld Day!  It was a bit overcast and cool which was perfect to enjoy the park.  We had so much fun all day going to the shows and seeing all the cool exhibits.  My dad even sat us in the soak zone for the Shamu show.  haha.  Luckily we didn't get too wet.  We really did have a great time there.

Night time at the beach.

Our next day was a day at the San Diego Zoo.  This zoo is enormous with tons of things to see and do.  We also had the great fun of meeting up with a dear friend of the family... Heather and her son Dex.

Our last day at SeaWorld was supposed to be a fun time at the naval ship USS Midway.  Unfortunately at the beach the night before, our car had some trouble.  So instead of enjoying the navy in San Diego, we spent the entire morning at Big O getting our van fixed.  On a positive note, if we had to have van trouble, it couldn't have happened on a better day.

We loved San Diego.  To explore everything we needed a few more days!  Maybe another vacation.
